Beginners guide
Your first step with Pilates can be straightforward. Here is what is worth knowing before your first session at Studio Tei 29.
Posture
Correct standing postural alignment is defined by the “plumb line” passing through the ear, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle, indicating a balanced distribution of biomechanical loads.

Lateral costal breathing
Lateral costal breathing involves expansion of the ribs sideways and posteriorly, supporting trunk stability, core activation and thoracic mobility.

Neutral pelvis
A neutral pelvis is the functional position in which the anterior superior iliac spines and the pubic symphysis lie in the same vertical plane, allowing the spine’s natural curves to be maintained.

Equipment
Comfortable, fitted clothing is recommended for Pilates so your instructor can assess alignment and movement. Non-slip socks are also advised for safety and stability during the session.
